What used to be the Indian Head Athletics store is now a new pub near downtown Manchester, NH. Spectrum Signs had the pleasure of working with GYK Antler to create and install a shoe wall that displays vintage Indian Head shoes bringing a bit of history back into the restaurant.
The idea was to create a unique display for the Indian Head shoes as they tie into the history of the establishment. We took the existing vintage shoe boxes and created a pattern for the wall. This pattern will eventually printed on vinyl and applied to an acrylic backer. The plan for the wall pieces and the vinyl print.
Scans were made of actual Indian Head shoe boxes and then printed on vinyl and wrapped on sintra blocks made in different sizes. The blocks were made to create and interesting visual while also being used to display vintage shoes.
Once the acrylic backer and the sintra blocks were wrapped in the vinyl applications they were taped to the backer and installed with screws. Holes were pre-drilled into the backer underneath the spaces where the sintra blocks would be placed. Once all of the holes were drilled the sintra blocks were taped in place temporarily. At the same time of pre-drilling the holes for the sintra blocks, set screw holes were drilled for the screws that would be used to attach the interior signage to the restaurant wall.
The backer was flipped with all of the blocks attached and screws were screwed into each block to affix them permanently.
The two sections of the interior signage wall were installed. The gaps in the wall from earlier photos you can see are now fit snuggly around the existing vents and lights. Classic Indian Head shoes and skates are decorating the sintra boxes that were affixed with screws. Overall this was an amazing project and the outcome is fantastic!
